Blast is the only Ethereum L2 with native yields on ETH and stablecoins. Blast yields come from ETH staking and the RWA protocol. The yields from these decentralized protocols are automatically fed back to Blast users. The default interest rate for other L2s is 0%. On Blast, the interest rate for ETH is 4% and the interest rate for stablecoins is 5%.

After the merger, Ethereum offers a 4% yield on ETH. The on-chain Treasury protocol offers a 5% yield on stablecoins. If users cannot meet or exceed these rates, they lose money due to some form of inflation. Today's L2s do not have this kind of yield. To natively combine ETH and stablecoin yields requires designing a new L2 from the ground up. Blast is an EVM-compatible Optimistic Rollup that increases the baseline yield for users and developers without changing the experience that crypto-native developers expect. This yield makes it possible to create new business models for Dapps that are not possible on other L2s.

ETH itself (not WETH, STETH, or any other ERC20) is natively rebased on L2. EOA's ETH balance is automatically rebased. Smart contracts can opt-in to this rebasing, making it easy for existing Dapps to deploy on Blast without any changes. Blast's native stablecoin USDB is also automatically rebased. Like ETH on Blast, USDB is automatically rebased for EOA. USDB is also automatically rebased for smart contracts. Smart contracts can opt-out of rebasing.

Blast was made possible by the Ethereum Shanghai upgrade. ETH earnings from L1 staking (initially Lido) are automatically transferred to users by rebalancing ETH on L2. In the future, the Blast community will be able to supplement or even completely replace Lido Blast native solutions or other third-party protocols.

Users of bridged stablecoins will receive Blast's automatically rebased stablecoin USDB. USDB's earnings come from MakerDAO's on-chain T-Bill protocol. When bridging back to Ethereum, USDB can be exchanged for DAI. In the future, the Blast community will have the ability to use Blast native solutions or other third-party protocols to supplement or even completely replace MakerDAO.

Other L2s keep the gas fee revenue for themselves. Blast programmatically returns the net gas revenue to Dapps. Dapps developers can keep this revenue for themselves or use it to subsidize users’ gas fees.
