Fantom started with the official DeFi suite and continued to expand the ecosystem through ecological project donations and incentives, Ecological landscape (more than 70) is gradually developed around cross-chain Bridges (5), decentralized exchanges or AMM (15), revenue optimizer (8), NFT (9), lending (4), IDO platform (4) and other fields. Most of the Fantom ecosystem is in its early stages of development, though a small number of projects have made some recent breakthroughs. As of September 13, the total lock-up volume of DeFi projects on Fantom reached $1.3 billion, up more than three times from $300 million at the beginning of August. SpookySwap, Curve, Beefy Finance, Scream, and SpiritSwap all have lock-ups in excess of $100 million.

On August 30, the Fantom Foundation announced that it will distribute a total of 370 million FTM awards for projects with TVL over $5 million on the platform, of which nearly $260 million worth of funds will be used to reward eco-apps with TVL over $200 million. AC later tweeted that FTM will be airdropped to cover the cost of crossing Bridges for users of Anyswap, Polygon, Avalanche, Ren Protocol, etc.

Fantom Foundation, a smart contract platform, announced $20 million from Cryptocurrency and blockchain investment firm BlockTower Capital and $15 million from hedge fund HyperChain Capital, The investment method is to buy FTM tokens. BlockTower Capital was founded in 2017 by Matthew Goetz, who previously worked in investment management at Goldman Sachs, and Ari Paul, who headed the risk management practice atthe University of Chicago Endowment Office. HyperChain Capital previously made an initial investment of $2.5 million in Fantom in 2018. Hyperchain Capital subsidiary Hyperblocks currently runs validator nodes on Fantom.

Alameda Research, a digital currency secondary market quantification firm led by SBF, invested $35 million in the Fantom Foundation, Alameda Research will work with the Fantom core team to integrate cross-chain products such as Solana, Serum and Raydium. In addition, Alameda Research will run a validation node on the Fantom Opera main network to help improve network security.
