Kazakhstan to Establish National Cryptocurrency Analytics Center

kazakhstan-bitcoin

Kazakhstan will establish a National Cryptocurrency Analytics Center to monitor transactions involving digital assets, National Bank Chairman Timur Suleimenov said at a government meeting, state news agency Qazinform reported on Monday. The new body will be built on the central bank’s supervisory SupTech platform and is intended to give authorities a unified view of both cryptocurrency and fiat money flows. The move marks another step in the country’s effort to formalize oversight of digital assets, and comes as the Central Asian nation, one of the world’s leading bitcoin-mining hubs, seeks closer visibility over a rapidly expanding crypto market.

Built on the Central Bank’s SupTech Platform

According to Suleimenov, the center is being established on the basis of the National Bank’s supervisory SupTech platform. It will analyze the fiat and cryptocurrency components of transactions, as well as information on clients, wallets and individual transfers. By pooling those data streams in a single place, the central bank aims to strengthen oversight of digital-asset activity that has historically been harder for regulators to trace than conventional banking flows. The SupTech foundation means the new center can lean on infrastructure the bank already uses to supervise financial institutions.

Integrated With the Anti-Fraud Center

The analytics center will be connected to the National Bank’s Anti-Fraud Center. Banks, law enforcement agencies and licensed digital-asset providers will gain access to its verification tools, widening the set of institutions that can query and cross-check suspicious activity. The design extends Kazakhstan’s earlier push to bring crypto mining and reserves under formal supervision through central-bank-backed rules , and gives the authorities a shared, centralized lens on both fiat and crypto transactions.

Oversight Catches Up With a Growing Market

The announcement follows Qazinform’s earlier report that Kazakhstan’s digital-asset transactions reached $10.6 billion. The country has been formalizing crypto oversight in stages, including memorandums with Binance to explore stablecoins and digital payments, and it has already leaned on its mining industry to help fund a central-bank-backed crypto reserve. The analytics center represents a further step, extending the National Bank’s monitoring reach beyond payments and mining into day-to-day transaction surveillance across both fiat and digital rails.
