Odaily Planet Daily reports that two Thai businessmen, Nutthawat Rukthammachalern and Natthawat Kasamvilas, have filed a lawsuit against stablecoin issuer Tether in the Southern District of New York federal court, accusing it of blacklisting 42.4178 million USDT. The lawsuit was filed on August 31 and refiled the following day. On-chain records show that 10 Ethereum addresses were frozen in batches within two and a half minutes on October 30, 2025, while the seizure order cited in the lawsuit is dated February 19, 2026, more than three months apart. The plaintiffs claim they purchased USDT on the secondary market and have no contractual relationship with Tether. The complaint alleges that Tether acted at the informal request of the U.S. government through an agent of the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) before issuing the seizure order, and informed Natthawat Kasamvilas on November 2, 2025, that it had "no further information," without disclosing that it had frozen the funds itself. The lawsuit raises five claims, including conversion, misappropriation of movable property, and unjust enrichment. The defendants are Tether Holdings, Tether International, Tether Operations, and Tether Investments. The case is being heard by Judge Lewis J. Liman. Tether previously stated that its cooperation with law enforcement has resulted in the freezing of over $4.4 billion in assets, of which over $2.1 billion is related to U.S. authorities.

Bottomline processes over $16 trillion in payments annually and serves 1,200 financial institutions and 10,000 businesses. Through this integration, banks can continue to send payment instructions using the ISO 20022 standard, with Chainlink infrastructure connecting these instructions to the blockchain settlement. Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) supports the transfer of tokenized value across different blockchain networks, while Chainlink's runtime environment (CRE) handles payment processes, transaction routing, and operational change coordination. CCIP has been recording mainnet activity since July 2023 and currently connects to over 60 blockchain networks. Chainlink's Project Pangea already covers over 50 banking institutions in Europe and South Korea, with participants managing over $10 trillion in assets.
