As stablecoin payments grow rapidly, related companies are also increasing their need for working capital. However, traditional financial institutions typically require companies to have a certain size and operating history, making it difficult for emerging payment companies to obtain financing.

Under the new plan, with customer authorization, Visa can combine settlement receivables data from VisaNet with on-chain transaction records to assess borrowers' creditworthiness and automate parts of the settlement financing process. In short, stablecoin card projects can use receivables generated from their own payment settlements as a basis for financing in the future.

Visa had previously tested this model with the decentralized lending platform Credit Coop. Since 2023, the model has supported over $2.5 billion in financing and settlement transactions, achieved zero defaults in its financing mechanisms, and completed over 3,000 loans and 9,000 repayments on-chain.

Visa stated that its stablecoin settlement transaction volume has now reached an annualized level of over $20 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of approximately 15 times. As the scale of stablecoin payments continues to expand, the company is exploring ways to further transform payment data into on-chain financing capabilities.
