In 2025, the bill made some progress, including its first public hearing on August 20th at the Chamber of Deputies' Economic Development Committee (CDE), where the potential size of the reserve (approximately $18.6 billion) and implementation details were discussed. However, the Central Bank of Brazil objected, arguing that Bitcoin would increase the risk to its reserve portfolio.
