Two points need clarification: 1. This incident is not a security vulnerability in the OKX Web3 wallet. 2. The attack method involved hackers using Trojan software to control the user's device and then stealing locally stored encrypted files and passwords by modifying the webpage's JavaScript code to implant hooks or by monitoring keystrokes. 3. The OKX Web3 wallet is a 100% self-custodied wallet. Private keys and passwords exist only on the user's own device; OKX cannot access or control user assets. However, if the user's device itself has been controlled by a hacker, then no wallet—including MetaMask—can guarantee security. This is like a thief being able to operate your computer and see all your keystrokes. User device security is always a critical aspect of a self-custodied system. Users are advised to avoid installing software or plugins from unknown sources, regularly check device security, and properly protect their mnemonic phrases and private keys.

According to Odaily, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Commissioner Hester M. Peirce wrote that a study has been initiated on an "innovation exemption" scheme for tokenized securities, allowing limited trading and technology trials for certain tokenized securities. Sygnum's Chief Investment Officer, Fabian Dori, believes that while the competitive gap between banks and crypto platforms is widening, the likelihood of a large-scale outflow of deposits in the short term remains limited. However, he pointed out that once stablecoins are considered yield-generating digital cash, bank deposits will face more significant competitive pressure. Butler points out that bank legal departments are generally unable to justify further capital expenditures to their boards because the market remains unclear about whether stablecoins will ultimately be classified as deposits, securities, or independent payment instruments. JPMorgan Chase has developed the Onyx blockchain payment network, BNY Mellon has launched a digital asset custody service, and Citigroup has tested tokenized deposits, but regulatory ambiguity limits the further scaling of these investments. He adds that, in contrast, crypto companies have long operated in a regulatory gray area and can continue to expand, while traditional banks cannot bear compliance risks in a similar environment, making them more likely to lose their competitive edge in the stablecoin race.
