IOV2055 Symposium’s Malaysian Chapter Concludes with Major Success; Next Destination: Thailand
The Internet of Values 2055 (IOV2055) Symposium - Malaysian Chapter, held on October 3, 2024, at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, concluded with significant success. This prominent gathering, one of Southeast Asia’s largest Web3 events of the year, united approximately 700 entrepreneurs, industry experts, blockchain specialists, and technology enthusiasts to collaboratively shape the internet's future. The event was further strengthened by a strategic partnership between IOV2055, the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), and Bitcoin Malaysia, enabling attendees to experience three conferences under a single registration.
Building upon the momentum established by the Chain Innovation Malaysia event and IOV2055 Symposium’s earlier session in Singapore on September 19 during TOKEN 2049, the Malaysian chapter reached full capacity, setting a high benchmark for the IOV2055 event series.
IOV2055 focused on content-rich programming, covering critical areas like blockchain integration, the digital economy, decentralized Artificial Intelligence (AI), Decentralized Finance (DeFi), and user adoption in the digital age. Keynote speeches from Jagdish Pandya of BlockOn, Harpreet Maan from IKKA, and Dr. Hisham Ismail of Ihsan Dhahab delved into IOV2055’s core values, envisioning a united digital future and exploring innovative ways to drive financial inclusion.
One of the day’s highlights was the signing of significant Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) among key industry leaders. These included a collaboration between IKKA and Ihsan Dhahab to establish an Islamic decentralized finance (iDeFi) ecosystem, a partnership between IKKA and DIFY aimed at developing decentralized finance solutions tailored for the Web3 gaming sector, and an alliance between EMERGE and MDEC to advance growth and innovation in the Web3 gaming industry. The event also launched Malaysia’s first Web3 gaming council, reinforcing the country’s leadership position in the digital transformation landscape and fostering the growth of its Web3 gaming sector.
The symposium included a competitive pitching session hosted by Web3Preneur and BitAngels, providing startups with an opportunity to showcase their ideas to potential investors and the broader audience. Praveer Tiwari from Nuchain secured first place, followed by Yujing Wong from FarmDirect and Nasrul from Halal Scan. The session, combined with ample networking opportunities throughout the day, facilitated valuable connections and potential collaborations among key industry players and innovators.
Aligned with Malaysia’s progressive regulatory environment and thriving fintech ecosystem, the IOV2055 Symposium contributes to the Malaysia Madani vision, underscoring the nation’s commitment to fostering innovation.
Harpreet Singh Maan, Co-Founder of IOV2055, emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “Today’s discussions showcase the strength of collaboration between tech innovators, investors, government agencies, and institutions in shaping a values-driven digital future. The IOV2055 Symposium goes beyond technical talks—it's a movement to build a future based on shared values and to unite like-minded individuals to discuss and debate these concepts."
Jagdish Pandya (JP), Co-Founder of IOV2055 and Founder of BlockOn, echoed this sentiment, stating:
“BlockOn has always been an ecosystem enabler, dedicating resources to develop the blockchain sector in Malaysia. Our previous initiatives, like Malaysia Blockchain Week 2019 and the Blockchain Meets Industry 4.0 Conference—where former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad participated—highlight our dedication to this space. IOV2055 emerged from the belief that Web3’s future lies in converging decentralization, AI, BI, and cloud technologies. This is the Internet of Values, and I believe IOV2055 will play a pivotal role in shaping this future. Our aim is to bring IOV2055 to every major Web3 hub worldwide.”
The Malaysian Chapter’s success was made possible through partnerships with MDEC, Bitcoin Malaysia, Access Blockchain Association Malaysia, Ihsan Dhahab Sdn Bhd, NuChain, IKKA.IO, Web3Preneur, and many other contributors.
With the positive outcome of the Malaysian Chapter, the IOV2055 Symposium now sets its sights on Thailand and India to further drive Web3 innovation and collaboration. The next event, the IOV2055 Symposium - Thailand Chapter, will be held on November 8, 2024, at the S31 Sukhumvit Hotel in Bangkok, coinciding with DevCon. The series will then continue in India with the IOV2055 Symposium - India Chapter during India Blockchain Month in December. This month-long Web3 celebration will span 15 cities with meetups, hackathons, networking opportunities, and conferences. These events will bring together essential Web3 stakeholders to discuss the digital landscape's evolution, forge partnerships, and envision the internet’s future.
